                                          May 2011 President's Message

As I write this message it’s May Day and Law Day. This year celebrates John Adams, our first lawyer President, who became President in 1797. However, our speaker this month is an engineer by trade and a member of the Florida State House, although she plans to run for State Senate next year.

Trudi Williams has been a State Representative for 7+ years; this is certainly one reason to be against term limits. She has been a great advocate for our Republican principles and she will share what has been happening in Tallahassee.

I heard Lee County Republican Party Vice Chair, Raymond Rodrigues, speak at Bupac last week . He impressed on everyone that each Tea Party group is different and that they are not aligned . . . with no intention of becoming a political party. That was good news since I would hate to see our Republican Party split and not win elections next year, most especially the Presidency. I have just returned from Washington, D.C. and heard several political speakers. After the November elections, Republicans will again control both the House and the Senate. The Presidency was a question mark. That leads to Presidency V. If you have an interest in attending, go to the RPOF website and submit your application. It will be held in September in Orlando, but your application must be received prior to June 10.

We’re having a 2012 membership contest, with a prize awarded in December for the member who brings in the most members from September to December. Stay tuned for more information about ―Push for the Future.‖

Can hardly believe that half the year is almost gone and this is our last newsletter until September. If you would like to share a word or three, please call me at 549-5629. See you May 17.

                                          Best,

                                          Marilyn Stout
