                                          What We Do......

                                          1. Hold monthly meetings featuring elected officials such as the Lee County Sheriff, the Lee County Supervisor of Elections, Lee County Commissioners, Mayor of Fort Myers, leaders of organizations such as Lee Memorial Health System, Superintendent of the School District of Lee County and many more.

                                          2. Support candidates through the hosting of Candidate Forums. Though our club very rarely contributes to individual campaigns, we contribute as individual club members after hearing from the candidates at the club's candidate forums. Our member's contributions total thousands of dollars each election cycle to local, state and national Republican candidates. We don't tell a member who she should vote for or give funds to. We provide the opportunity for the candidates to earn our member's vote and campaign support through our candidate forums.

                                          3. Support area students with The Barbara Burke Literacy Award. Each year between four and six area students are given the opportunity to compete for awards based on the quality and intent of an essay written on a topic chosen by the FMRWC's board.  In the past Cypress Lake Middle, North Nicholas Charter High and Oasis Middle schools have participated in the contest.

                                          4. Support local community efforts such as the Lee County Animal Services, Foster Care Advisory Services, Hope Hospice, Ronald McDonald House, American Cancer Society and others.

                                          5. Support our troops through the Fisher House. An organization that gives families of military patients the opportunity to be nearby through their recovery process period.

                                          6. Present the annual President's GEM Award to an outstanding elected official or community leader who demonstrates
Great leadership, Establishment of programs/practices for the betterment of the county and Make a positive difference in the community.

                                          7. Educate our members on the political happenings here in Lee County, the state and the nation as we present issues on all three levels.

                                          8. Connect elected officials with their constituents, our members, on a regular basis allowing for a flow of ideas and conversations between government and the people.

                                          9. Bring together a group of women from diverse backgrounds with sometimes differing opinions and ideas who work together for a common goal of "promoting political awareness".

                                          10. Support our National and State Federations through the dues we pay each year, and by attending events when possible.
